In June 1608, On orders from Henry IV of France, Champlian sailed up the St. Lawrence on his ship, St Julien and established a fort-which would later become Quebec City.

In 1615, Champlain reached the Geor bay and attacked the Iroquois. He got shot by two arrows in his foot and leg and had to spend the winter in Huronia. Returning to France, he was embroiled in lawsuits.
