School teacher from Philadelphia, LeCount saw the inequality in her community, specifically with black riders of the street cars. She rallied and petitioned for black riders and successfully got the laws changed.

When the laws changed some people pushed back. One day in 1867, the conductor refused to let her ride. She filed a complaint with the police and the conductor was fined $100. He had to pay her directly.
