Mary Wollstonecraft played a major role in the Enlightenment because as an English writer, her views are often seen as founding modern European feminism. Her novel "Vindication of Rights of Woman" in 1792 argued the subjection of women to men was the same wrongness as the relationships of slave owners to slaves or monarchs to subjects. She also argued if women have reason they should have equal rights in economic and political life.
