Riachu slaps the OPPONENT, not the defending Pokemon, with his tail repeatedly. Therefore the OPPONENT faints, and he or she cannot battle, so you win.
Attack 2 : Shockwave
Flip a coin. If heads, Riachu puts a force field around its trainer's team. Then Riachu lets out a powerful shock wave and wipes out the foe's team. If the coin was tails, Riachu did not put up a force field and all of your Pokemon in play have 10 damage.
