Vasily was born in a small town called Yeleninka. His grandfather taught him to hunt when he was young. During WW2 he killed an estimated 400 German soldiers and officers. Vasily killed some enemies from as far as 1000 meters. He tracked a German sniper, Erwin König, for a week and killed him with help from a comrade. In 1943 he was blinded by mortar fire. He was honored as Hero of The Soviet Union.
